A big part of “getting noticed” in any field these days in publicizing yourself via SNS, or social networking sites. We just use SNS in Japan, since it’s shorter I’ll be using it too.

Now, it can be really fun to interact with people who share your interests, of course.

However, losing time which you could spend creating new content is a double-edged sword. I mean, yes, I need to update: Twitter, Tumblr, this site, Facebook, Instagram, and Goodreads, but boy is that time consuming. Not to mention thinking of new content can take time itself.

It does take off a little pressure to actually interact with people, and of course there’s always the ever lovely ‘queue’ option for a lot of these sites.

It’s hard to know when to stop advertising to work, and when to stop working to advertise. Definitely a balancing act every person working on their own to publicize their craft has to learn though.

Good luck to anyone else out there figuring this stuff out.
